SUMMARY:Inaugural COVID Run
DESCRIPTION:Run Report\nThe run was held at the Tom Rose Park at 58 Wandin St. Nerang. \nA group waited at the entrance gate to the park that is an equestrian centre. Several riders and their horses were present so there was a slight wait for them to clear the area. Once they had departed the throng drove in and down to the pavilion covered area\, an excellent spot to start the run and right next to the State Forest. \nAt promptly 6.15pm the Hare\, a man of obviously of few words pointed in a direction to the right saying “it’s on down that way”. The pack set off an had only gone about 50 metres when they entered a narrow track. It was already dark and hand held torches or the head band variety were definitely needed. The trail was well marked with shit paper and the hare had obviously recently been to Coles where he was one of those in the mad scramble for a supply of the stuff. It is thought though that he was not one of those persons seen on tv fighting for what they thought was rightfully theirs. \nBack to the trail that continued up\, down\, sideways and roundabout. Where the fuck are we and completely confused? Luckily the pack took pity on the slow plodding author who was of course well behind and bringing up the rear. The pack would stop every few hundred yards or so to ensure that the rear runner could sought of catch up. With all runners having torches this was not too hard. \nFor some distance the trail went past a few houses that were on the right. Some occupants were observed as the trail was on higher ground than the houses. Occupants were making a noise and it was quite clear that they were not necessarily observing the required social distance apart. \nBack to the run that then turned a hard left and more up and downs\, slippery rocks\, fallen logs and blinking toads. The first check was reached and there were subsequently four or five of them a pattern developed. The most fit runner by far YK2 Jelly would go out searching for the ON On trail to be found. The remainder of the pack\, the lazy bastards just hung around the check waiting for the call. This often took sometime as the checks were cunningly set. At one stage the Hare did a “nod nod wink wink” to the Scribe who set off at his fast pace and was in the lead. Glorious lead\, out in front \, wind in the hair and flying. It brougt back memories of yesteryear\, (twenty or thirty years) when the then younger specimen could run a bit and loved the challenge of being up front. Sadly this did not last very long and he was soon overtaken by the throng. \nOn two occasions the pack made way for mountain bike riders. Once from coming from behind and once from coming from the front. The riders had\nexceptionally good lights on their bikes and were obviously experienced and well equipped riders.\nThe trail varied from time to time from soft sand\, more narrow winding paths and tracks with deep furrows that had been made by tractors\, heavy machinery or the like. This was all good stuff and not a centimetre of bitumen to be seen. (Get rooted you lazy suburban setting run types). \nAbout an hour in to the run and a Hash Halt was called by the Hare. The advice was that the trail continued for about two kays with several more checks. It was suggested by the Hare that it may be appropriate for the writer and the Hare to shortcut back to the home base as the last part of the run was much more difficult with a particularly hazardous downhill part that could cause a fall and nasty result. The scribe needed no coaxing with this idea so proceeded with the Hare back to the start. Y2K Jelly on the other hand a man of obvious great strength and character was up to the challenge and decided to complete the full run. He was given clear instructions by the Hare that when he came across the checks that he should make left turns and follow the trail that would bring him home. \nThe short cutters arrived at home base in the time of one and a quarter hours. They then proceeded to crack a beer in comfort at the pavilion and talk the usual hash shit amusing themselves with old hash war stories. \nOver and hour passed and concern was then raised that Y2K Jelly had not returned. It was decided to send out a search party. The musings were that he was either well and truly lost or had fallen and hit his head on a rock or was otherwise incapacitated. \nThe search party back tracked into the bush\, a couple of kilometres calling out trying to locate the lost soul. A voice or so it was thought was heard from afar and a glimmer of hope was raised. Alas all went quiet again and was it our imagination running wild or perhaps it was just the moot of a lonely owl. Not long after however a somewhat dishevelled Jelly appeared coming from the opposite direction. We breathed a sigh of relief and returned to the home base where more beers were consumed.\nA very informal short circle took place where there was a minute’s silence and prayer for those taking part in the Zoom video conferencing from the comfort of their lounges. \nAll in all a memorable night and very glad that I did not miss it. Reckon the run was a 10 out of 10. \nCall me an f…n idiot if you like. I do not mind at all.\nOn\, On\nBallbag (stand-in-scribe)

SUMMARY:Run # 129 Pepperoni Pizza Day
DESCRIPTION:What a F@ck up of a run. 371 vertical metres of pure torture. Injuries galore\, much blood spilt. The hare clearly forgot to consult the “Ballbag guide to setting a good trail”. Despite the ample parking and homemade Pepperoni Pizza a score of -5 was awarded due to time penalties. \nhttps://covidhhh.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/129-Pepperoni.mp4

SUMMARY:Run #148: Mardis Gras Bush Run
DESCRIPTION:https://covidhhh.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Covid-148.mp4 \nWhat a great night of hash. For the first time in ages someone got lost and was awarded Covidiot of the week. Most surprisingly the hasher in question was not Ballbag…. Turned out Eno was enjoying the trail so much he decided to do 2 laps of the course despite being only 20 metres from home first time round (Relive Eno’s run below). \nWith Eno clearly shaken we did what any good kennel would do and charged him with multiple offences dispensed from a dog bowl…. It really was Eno’s night with the RA (aka Jelly) then numbering him (XIV) followed by winning the much sought after raffle. \n  \nThe run score was surprisingly low at -5\,003 but with a 5\,000 point bonus awarded to the hare for retrieving a lost runner a respectable -3 was confirmed. The walkers awarded a 7.5 for their trail despite not following one inch of the flour laid for them (God only knows where they went). All in all\, a great Mardi Gras run hosted by the committee……just don’t mention the onions.

SUMMARY:Run #149: Double Banger Run
DESCRIPTION:https://covidhhh.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Covid-149.mp4 \nHe promised it and he bloody well delivered it. \nA very late contender for Run of the Year and the Karen Pini by Arsenic. A run that had a bit of everything including a complete disregard for anyone’s safety as evidenced by the amount of claret spilt as we literally crawled our way through the bush. A run that took in every corner of the forest and parts of the bush we have never seen before\, and that Eno hopes we never see again. He broke us and right when all hope was lost\, we popped out onto the fire trail home. \nA marvellous 9.5 was scored despite all the flour being washed away by an isolated shower and freak tornado prior to the run start on what was an otherwise a still and barmy evening. Relive the run here https://www.relive.cc/view/vNOP42M7J2O \nIn the circle the usual banter and airing of grievousness was wrapped up with a moving ceremony to award Derrolicked My Balls with his 100 run t-shirt.

SUMMARY:Run #155: Torture Trail
DESCRIPTION:What a run……..or more accurately what a bush bashing\, crawl and bum slide. A real epic with plenty of claret spilt over the 8km of pure unadulterated torture which took 5hr 26min to complete. \nOnce again\, the failings of the run scoring mechanism were there for everyone to see with a 68 recorded as it was agreed the hare (our beloved GM\, Y2KY Jelly) may have f#cked us this time\, but we all owe him one. \nAs you can imagine the hare was immediately iced for his crimes with the usual vindictive and spiteful charges following. The evening closed with the hares second attempt on our lives via a Vegetarian Caribbean Stew. All jokes aside a huge effort by Y2KY Jelly which will never be forgotten (wish we could) by those who were there. \nNext Tuesday\, with a bit of luck\, Arsenic will be setting the Easter Beer Hunt run back in the forest.

SUMMARY:Run #157: KK's Birthday Run
DESCRIPTION:Great run last night. Despite a very isolated tornado over Nerang Forest blowing away all the trail prior to the run (these freak weather events always seem to happen when Arsenic is the hare…) we somehow managed to navigate our way around the dense bush. Despite the lack of trail at no time did we get lost or scared\, but the sense of relief when we stumbled across the Gnome Inn at the Tree of Tranquillity was palpable (no wonder those Gnomes are subjected to such abuse…). Luckily\, we guessed right at the tree (which was actually a left) and made our way down Happy Valley at pace on home. Relive it all here: \nhttps://covidhhh.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Covid-157.mp4 \nBack at HQ with the mercury dropping below a chilly 20C and early stages hypothermia setting in Arsenic showed off his survival skills by rubbing two sticks together to make fire so we could form the circle. Jelly and Derrolicked My Balls (recovering pyromaniacs) got a bit over excited adding as much fuel to the fire as they could find\, but the bonfire soon calmed down\, and the resulting bush fire put out. The usual spiteful and vindicative charges were laid during the circle but not before a particularly harsh score of 28 / 100 was awarded. KK sent her apologises for not being able to attend in person but shared a home video of her latest butt bleaching attempt along with a delightful see -through yellow number that the hare wore with pride.

SUMMARY:Run #161: Cinco de Mayo
DESCRIPTION:Well\, it only took 161 runs to work it out but finally a hare (Derrolicked my Balls) managed to lay a waterproof trail which defeated the 130mm of rain.  Literally a well-crafted trail with paper mache markings and checks taking us to all corners of the forest with the best-ever quality piss-stop (Fireball shots). Thanks to the weather we were also able to incorporate a couple of creek swims to the delight of Arsenic who brought along his snorkelling gear\, but his spirits were soon dampened upon the discovery of leeches on his face upon arrival back at the circle (see photo). \nDespite not running the RA (Eno) turned up to gloat about the magnificent weather he had put on. He was in such a hurry to cum he forgot the run scoring mechanism and with our fearless leader still in Darwin grabbing grannies we were forced to improvise resulting in a run score of 10 out of 12. The evening was rounded off with not only sausages and white bread but ONIONS!!! to boot and the circle closed with the resolution that B#llpoint (I didn’t name him) was in fact still a c&nt.

SUMMARY:Run #177: Game of D̶e̶a̶t̶h̶ Chance
DESCRIPTION:https://covidhhh.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Covid-177.mp4 \nWhat a run! Who would have thought that a pack of UNO cards would result in the best run I’ve been on for at least the last couple of months….. \nWell done to the hare (GM Jelly) for endangering our lives and a special mention for his placement of the killer brown snake at the beginning of the trail and the less venomous echidna later-on. After a 45-minute loop that took us to parts of the forest we had never seen before we found ourselves back were we started………in the middle of nowhere. Luck however was on our side as we drew the right sequence of cards to take us directly on home just in time for a lively circle where a run score of 79 was awarded and we learnt much about the latest offerings from The Bulldog Hotel in Amsterdam. \n “Ninja wake up calls are only available as part of the Bulldog hotel holiday romance package. Details of this service are available behind the water tank in the ladies toilet on the 2nd floor. If you are interested in this offer\, please bring two passport-sized photos\, details of your measurements on the back of a small envelope\, and the results of a recent HIV test.” \n

DESCRIPTION:https://covidhhh.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Covid-178.mp4 \nWell\,  I think we all know who’ll win the rat c*nting award this year….. Well done to the Sargent for going way too hard\, way too early as he gets closer to his special landmark and tricking us all with his non-attendance last night. \nThe resulting confusion (no one knew how to cook sausage’s) meant we almost burnt down the forest in our attempts to make nachos on the brazier. Still hungry\, thirsty (no Booze Master or birthday beers) and directionless (no GM) the circle turned on the absent Sargent but was saved by a heartfelt message from our Founding Father and song from the assembled bushmen. As for the run / walk…… pretty much perfect but unfortunately there is never enough time to apply the official scoring mechanism\, so no score was recorded. \nhttps://covidhhh.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/WhatsApp-Video-2023-09-13-at-2.29.27-PM.mp4

SUMMARY:Run #194: Choose your own Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Well\, it was advertised as choose your own adventure ………..but Jelly took it way too far. 2 hours and 8km after departing on his “quick” walk he somehow managed to swim his way out of the flood ravaged creek to safety only to find no one at the on after. Stupidly the runners had decided to mount a pointless (it’s a big forest) search and rescue effort so once back at the circle square it was agreed to tweak our mantra of “No Man Left Behind* “ \n Unfortunately\, the circle square was disrupted by Gupta (security guard) before we could properly dispense all of Jelly’s charges and score the run\, but we did agree it was certainly Run of the Calendar Year (ROTCY) and “The Sloppy” would be a new AGPU award for wettest run swim of the year. \n  \n Tragically I took some photos of the run (see below) but unfortunately\, I’m now totally blind as a result. BTW if you happen to find a custom-made wedding ring at the bottom of the creek it’s Derro’s. \n

SUMMARY:#195: Arseys Bushy Australiana S̶w̶i̶m̶ Run
DESCRIPTION:https://covidhhh.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Run-195.mp4\nThe promise of Sloppy Seconds certainly resulted in a larger then usual turnout but unfortunately Kirrily let us down by not cumming in time so a dry root was experienced by all. The evening started with a moving smoking ceremony and welcome to country by Uncle Jelly before both runners and walkers hit the dry bush. In honour of our navigationally challenged GM the runners even attempted to follow in his footsteps from the previous week before realising it’s impossible to get that lost…. \nBack at the circle square picnic table both the run (59min 21sec / 6.07km) and walk received a near perfect score (baaaah the elusive tits on the run) with special mention to the hare (Arsenic) for finding a new on in and getting both runners and walkers to finish together. It all wrapped up with the usual Aussie Day activities including Thong tossing (ooh ah)\, cane toad races\, poking a snake with a stick and snag throwing before Gupta (security guard) rudely interupted proceedings and our Australiana themed BBQ fit for a Tasmanian born Queen. \nNext Tuesday\, with a bit of luck\, Fresh Meat will guide on another bush experience which has been tentatively titled # 196 – Fresh Meat in the Bush.\n🐑👿
